Adored Mailing List Recipients,
Jessica Schleif, a local artist and dear friend of the band, and one of the uninsured millions in America, recently suffered a tragedy that left her with unmanageable medical debt. The Decemberists will play a sole concert this spring, A Benefit for Jessica Schleif, which will take place on Friday, April 30 at Liberty Theater in Astoria, OR (100 miles NW of Portland on the Oregon coast). The show features special guest Michael Hurley and will be hosted by Moe Bowstern. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. Floor and balcony tickets for this intimate event are $35 and will be available for purchase starting tomorrow, Friday, April 2 at 10am PST HERE. A limited quantity of Gold Circle tickets that include a limited edition silk screen poster designed by Carson Ellis will be available for $75. All proceeds from the concert will be donated towards Jessica’s medical bills.
Also on the benefit front, Colin will headline Portland’s Make It Pop presented by PDX Pop Now! The show is on Thursday, April 29 at The Cleaners (at Ace Hotel Portland) at 6:30pm. Also on the bill are The Alialujah Choir, Ah Holly Fam’ly, Musee Mecanique, and DJ Jeremy Petersen. All proceeds from this show benefit PDX Pop Now!, which is a Portland-based nonprofit devoted to supporting all ages access to local music. Tickets are on-sale now.
As a reminder, we’re still offering Here Come The Waves: The Hazards of Love Visualized on DVD in The Decemberists Shop free with all purchases of Hazards of Love on CD or vinyl. Visit the Shop and browse our expansive selection of shirts, hoodies, mugs, posters (20% off!), and more.
