Points of Order
. Contribute to the relief effort in Haiti
. Tickets for Australia shows
. Introducing…Â Black Prairie
Adored Mailing List Recipients,
As you all know, a catastrophic earthquake struck Haiti earlier this week. The devastation is enormous. In case you haven’t had a chance to contribute to relief efforts, let us add another urgent plea to do so. Remember that during catastrophes like these, contributions often shrink as the days go on, and help will be needed for a sustained amount of time. Here are some easy ways to donate: Red Cross, Oxfam International, Mercy Corps or remember you can simply text “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10 to American Red Cross.
The Decemberists made their Southern Hemisphere debut last week in Auckland – thanks to the great crowd that turned out for that set, as well as the Gold Coast and Sydney shows. A limited quantity of tickets still remain for The Decemberists headline shows in Melbourne at Billboard on January 25. Tickets are also still available for the second Sydney Big Day Out show.
We’re also pleased as punch to introduce Black Prairie, a side project featuring Decemberists Chris Funk, Jenny Conlee, and Nate Query plus local Portland musicians Annalisa Tornfelt and Jon Neufeld. This eclectic bluegrass-but-not-really group will make its live debut at Noise Pop in San Francisco next month. Their record, Feast of the Hunters’ Moon, will be released later this spring. Black Prairie’s website will be launched soon. In the meantime you can follow them on Twitter or visit them on Facebook. Here’s a list of upcoming Black Prairie dates. Visit venue websites for ticketing information:
February 27, Noise Pop Festival at Rickshaw Stop, San Francisco, CA
April 1, The Woods, Portland, OR
April 2, Sam Bonds Garage, Eugene, OR (with Mimicking Birds)
April 3, Tractor Tavern, Seattle, WA (with Mimicking Birds)
Yours truly,
