Adored Mailing List Recipients,
Well, A Short Fazed Hovel Tour really doesn’t seem so short anymore. Simply put, the response to The Hazards of Love, performed live and in person, has been such that we Decemberists are incredibly pleased to announce another wave of tourdates – Phase 3 of ASFHT. This 13-date leg kicks off in Burlington, VT on September 20 and includes stops in several virgin lands heretofore untouched by The Decemberists, including Tulsa, OK, Lexington, KY, Charlottesville, VA and St. Augustine, FL! We’re also particularly excited about playing The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. These dates will likely be the last time you will be able to see The Hazards of Love performed in its entirety, possibly…ever? We’re also pleased to welcome back our good friend Laura Veirs, who will be supporting these headline dates with her new band The Hall of Flames.
And, just as a reminder, we’ll be playing two great festivals – the Austin City Limits Music Festival in Austin, TX on October 3 and the Treasure Island Music Festival in San Francisco, CA on October 18.
A presale for all shows announced today is currently underway at http://decemberists.tickets.musictoday.com/Decemberists/calendar.aspx. General onsales begin this Friday am, July 31. Please check the tourpage for full gig information: http://home.decemberists.com/on-tour.html
We’re also pleased to announce our return to the United Kingdom, The Decemberists’ first time back there since October of 2007. We’re keeping the trip a bit brief this time with just two shows in London. We’ll be playing The Forum on November 18 and The Coronet on November 19, and as in the U.S., we will be playing a full 2-set show, with The Hazards of Love as the first set and a second set of classic Decemberists songs. The two shows go onsale this Wednesday, July 29, at http://ticketweb.co.uk For those of you that don’t have it as your home page, we are pleased to present a new and improved http://home.decemberists.com/ Please stop by and have a look when you have a minute. We expect to add additional changes to the site over the next couple months, including a “Fans” page where fans can post their own photos and videos. We welcome you to check out a preview of this page before we link to it from the homepage. Check it out at thedecemberists.ning.com Finally, we’ve had a limited silkscreened poster designed for almost every show yet this year. Many of the posters from the first leg of the tour are available at our own Decemberists Shop: http://www.decemberistsshop.com/zencart/ Yours,
